Software
BitPim
BitPim is software you can use with a CDMA phone to upload/download ringtones, contact lists, wallpapers and much more.
Sending Yourself Ringtones
You'll need to attach the ringtone to an email & send it to your phone. The username for the email will be your phone number, including area code. Below is a list of carriers and what email domain you should send it to.
- AT&T Wireless : @mmode.com
- Cingular : @cingularme.com
- Nextel : @messaging.nextel.com
- Sprint PCS : @messaging.sprintpcs.com
- T-Mobile : @tmomail.net
- Verizon : @vzwpix.com
For example, if I had the phone number of (201) 555-1212 with Verizon, I'd email 2015551212@vzwpix.com ... T-Mobile would be 2015551212@tmomail.net.
I've noticed that if the file is over 240kb in size then I won't receive it with Verizon. I've used software to shrink the ringtone to what I want, lowered the bitrate & changed the file from stereo to mono.
Websites
I haven't used these, so I can't speak to their ethics as far as selling your cell phone # and sending you spam. Use them at your own risk!!!
